Behavioral Health State Specialist

Dr. David Brown currently serves as the Behavioral Health State Specialist for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach (ISUEO). His key program and grant emphases are farm stress assistance, relationship education, co-parenting, workplace resilience, mental health literacy, and suicide prevention.

Dr. Brown has been licensed as a Marital and Family Therapist in the State of Iowa for over 31 years and is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He is also a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) with the National Council on Family Relations.

Crystal has over 33 years of experience empowering individuals in her field. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Montana and holds a certification in Aging and Geriatrics from Boston University. In addition, she is a certified Information and Referral Specialist and an Options Counselor.

Throughout her twenty years with Aging Resources, Crystal has held various positions, including Case Manager and Family Caregiver Specialist. Earlier in her career, she served as a Home Care Supervisor and directed Volunteer and Mentoring Programs at the Napa/Solano County Area Agency on Aging

Deb Moeller, MSW, LCSW, LMSW

Suicide Prevention – Program Coordinator
Iowa City VA Health Care System

Deb Moeller, MSW, LCSW, LMSW is the Program Coordinator with the Suicide Prevention Team at the Iowa City VA Health Care System.   She has worked as a community-based, medical social worker for more than thirty-five (35) years, having spent the first part of her career working in the home care and hospice arenas.  In 2013, Deb joined the Iowa City VA Health Care System and has served in several different roles,  coming to the suicide prevention team in 2022.  She is honored to serve our Nation’s Service Members, Veterans, and their Families as we work to identify those at risk for suicide, get them to care, and foster community creativity to support prevention efforts.

Gina Moulas, MSN, BSN, RN

Suicide Prevention Community Engagement and Partnership Coordinator

Gina Moulas serves as the Suicide Prevention Community Engagement and Partnership Coordinator for the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System (NWIHCS). Bringing over 30 years of nursing experience across diverse medical settings, Gina has dedicated 13 years to federal service within the Department of Veterans Affairs. Her tenure includes five years in Home Based Primary Care and the last eight years fostering community engagement and strategic partnerships for suicide prevention initiatives.

Gina earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus in Informatics and is a certified trainer in several critical prevention programs, including VA S.A.V.E, Connect Postvention, C.A.L.M., and C.A.L.M. Conversations. Her expertise extends to providing skilled home health care throughout rural Nebraska and Iowa for more than 15 years, reflecting a deep commitment to meeting the needs of underserved communities.

In addition to her professional achievements, Gina is a proud mother of an Army Veteran and the grandmother of two wonderful boys. She is passionate about supporting the Veteran community and enhancing suicide prevention efforts across the region.
